Toyota Zambia in collaboration with World Vision have started building a one by three classroom block in hippo pool community at the cost of K628, 000.
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony, World Vision National Director John Hasse said that the construction of the classroom block is meant to give learners’ a conducive environment.
Mr Hasse said that Hippo Pool School has been faced with a number of challenges, among them lack of good learning infrastructure and clean water.
“Education is the key to success, that is why as world vision we aim to advance the lives of children in Zambia through education, I call on parents to encourage their children to attend classes, we promise that once this classroom block is completed, world vision will make available all the needed requirements such as books, and desks,” he said.
Mr Hasse said that he is hopeful that once the construction is completed; there will be improved performance among the pupils.
And Toyota Zambia General Manager Gilbert Mfuya said that Toyota Zambia is always open to help fund for development across the country.
And Chingola District Education Board Noah Simulunga thanked Government for having attached great importance to education.
Mr Simulunga has also appealed to Government to allocate more teachers to the Hippo Pool School so that pupils can be taught by professions.
He also thanked Toyota Zambia for funding the construction of the classroom block.
And Chingola Constituency Member of Parliament pledged that once the classroom block is complete, he will ensure that running water is made available.
Mr Chipoka said that education is an equalizer that is why Government wants to ensure that every child has acquires education in a safe environment.
Hippo Pool primary has a total number of 150 pupils, and currently has few desks to accommodate the learners’, the classroom block is expected to be completed in a month’s time.
