Ministry of local Government has acquired 166 contracts covering 6,390 kilometres of feeder roads valued at over 8 billion Kwacha.

Local Government and Rural Development Minister Garry Nkombo said this brings the ongoing contracts to 211 covering over 8657 kilometres in various districts countrywide.

Mr Nkombo said that his ministry has procured 22 new performance based contracts for township roads valued at 120 million Kwacha to cover 1000 kilometres in Lusaka.

“My ministry will also enhance programs such as the national feeder roads program in order to improve accessibility, mobility and connectivity to agricultural sites and social and economic facilities in rural areas,” he said.

Mr Nkombo said that his ministry is working to improve the capacity of local authorities to effectively supervise and manage road projects.
