Kabwe Warriors have bade farewell to the CAF Confederation Cup after losing 2-1 to CFFA of Madagascar in the return leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
To progress to the next round, Warriors needed a win after a barren draw in an away first leg game in Madagascar.
Coach Manfred Chabinga attributed his teams loss to lack of experience as the majority of the players have never played in the CAF Confederation Cup.
He said his charges had so many chances which they failed to utilize.
Chabinga said the loss is a message for the team to work harder especially the striking force.
“The players were carried away searching for a second goal and I pointed out four or five that please do be carried away. Again we started panicking, we had no composure.
“Somehow yes, the majority of players we have have never been in this competition. At one point I could see that we are losing the shape and the the tactical discipline was also missing,” he said.
Chabinga said his charges has shifted focus to the domestic league and will work hard.
Warriors made a return to continental football after missing for over a decade.
Warriors’ defeat came 24 hours after upper Division champions Zesco United were also booted out of the CAF Champions League by Royal Leopards of eSwatini at the same venue despite winning 2-1.
Zesco bowed out of the competition on away goals having lost 1-0 in the first leg.
The elimination of the duo leaves only Zanaco and Red Arrows as Zambia’s envoys in the Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively
