President HH warns against stealing govt resources

President Hichilema says people should not be allowed to use the procurement system to steal government resources, adding that wants government to buy quality goods at the right price which should be delivered on time.

President Hakainde Hichilema has also directed Vice President Mutale Nalumango and Secretary to the Cabinet Simon Miti to come up with specific measures that will allow government track savings that will be made as a result of avoiding wasting public resource in the procurement of goods and services.

Speaking at the swearing in, Mr Hichilema wonders why the previous administration was buying fertilizer which was expensive when there was an option of buying at a lower price.

He said this when he swore in cabinet Ministers, provincial ministers and senior Government Officers.

Those appointed are the ministers of Green economy and Environment Collins Nzovu, Small and Medium Enterprises Elias Mubanga, Central Province Minister Credo Nanjuwa and North Western Provincial Minister Robert Lihefu.

The head of state also sworn in his principal Private Secretary Bradford Machila, Permanent Secretary State House Dr Oliver Kalabo, and Permanent Secretary Green Economy John Msimuko.

Others appointed and sworn in are Special Assistant to the president for economics and development affairs Jito Kayumba and Special Assistant to the President for project implementation and monitoring Lawrence Mwananyanda and the Covid Advisor Dr Roma Chilengi.

President Hichilema said his Government will Covid-19 is brought under control hence appointing a Covid-19 advisor.

He said that his visit to the United States will focus on how best countries will bring the covid-19 under control.
