President Hakainde Hichilema says that administrative changes will be effected if ineffectiveness and inefficiencies become apparent among cabinet ministers.
President Hichilema said that Cabinet Ministers must be active on issues concerning nation.
He said that Zambians are watching and will judge the Cabinet based on its conduct of serious national issues.
Speaking during the induction ceremony held for Cabinet Ministers at Mulungushi Conference Center in Lusaka today, the President observed the importance of taking National duty serious.
He said that issues such creating jobs, business opportunities, education and quality health care services are cardinal to the Zambian people.
“I want to call upon the Cabinet Ministers to work in harmony with civil servants so that the vision of a better Zambia for all is actualised. Ministers are in office because people want water, jobs, business opportunities and quality healthcare services. In the absence of these things, no Minister should be walking with his or her head high,” he said.
President Hichilema said that five years is a short period of time and they have to deliver the people’s expectations and all Ministers must work hard.
“Our vision is that of lowering the cost of doing business and bettering lives of all and as such we will not be shy to make necessary changes at whatever levels including at Cabinet if there is ineffectiveness in that portfolio, this New Dawn means working and working hard for the people of our Country. Today’s induction workshop should be a benchmark on how Ministers will operate and this will be the trend going forward as it will be helping us appraise the Ministers,” he said.
The Head of State said the UPND has a nation to run and they will make sure that they deliver the jobs, business opportunities, and education and quality healthcare services among others, which we promised the people of Zambia
He also urged the ministers to get on with work because this is not time for luxury but delivering change.
