Police in Lusaka have arrested Pastor John Simfukwe of Interdenominational Jesus Ministries, Chipata Overspill Compound for having swindled his own congregant a widow of Lusakas SOS area of money amounting to K260, 000.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in August, 2016 Mildred Chikote gave the  Pastor K 170,000 with a view that Pastor Simfukwe would buy her a house.

“Later on in January, 2017. He further obtained K90, 000 in the name of blessing her money which was meant for her to do business which he never returned. The suspect is currently in Police custody and has been charged with two Counts namely: Obtaining Money by False Pretences and Theft. He will appear in court soon.

“We would like to warn all those that are hiding behind the pulpit with a sole purpose of swindling vulnerable congregants that we shall deal with them firmly and make them account for their actions according to the laws of the country,” said Mr Hamoonga.
