Kalulushi Council procure machinery for waste management

Kalulushi Municipal Council (KMC) has procured new machinery with the aim of enhancing service delivery in the area of waste management and road maintenance in the district.

KMC Assistant Public Relations Manager Lidah Kamanga said the machinery procured includes, two tipper trucks at the cost of K3, 330, 000 and 1 skip loader costing K1, 627, 900 using locally generated funds.

Others are a tractor procured at K682, 740 using Local Government Equalization Funds this is In addition to a grader procured on December 2020 at a total cost of K2, 500, 000 using locally generated funds.

Ms Kamanga said with the procurement of this machinery the Council is confident of enhanced waste management and collection from households to the dumpsite.

She said this will also allow the Local Authority to meet its waste management target since there is now equipment dedicated to this service.

“The machinery will also be useful for road works as the Council can now routinely work on the roads which will ultimately lead to an improved road network in the district. The Local Authority also wishes to remind residents to refrain from engaging in indiscriminate waste disposal but should instead make use of Council waste management services in order to Keep Kalulushi Clean, Green and Healthy,” she said.
