The Zambia Federation of Disability Organization (ZAFOD) Federal Director Justin Mbakali has welcomed the decision by the government to employ 347 teachers with disabilities.

Mr Mbakali says it is encouraging that the government has recruited more teachers beyond the 10 percent target in the 2021 teacher recruitment exercise.

“We are happy with the Government move to employ Teachers more that 10 percent Target, to us we are saying this is good thing and we hope more things to come in future to the teaching fraternity,” he said.

Mr Mbakali said that his organization remains optimistic that government will put in place policies that will promote the participation of persons with disabilities in the country’s development agenda.

Meanwhile the Teaching Service Commission has today published names of 1,200 teachers that have been recruited of which 347 persons are living with disabilities.
