Chingola Mayor and 29 Councillors swears in

Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe and 29 councilors have been sworn in today at Chingola Municipal Council.

The swearing ceremony was witnessed by Chingola Magistrate Timothy Daka and Chingola Town Clerk Kabombo Mutekela in the Council Chambers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chingola Town Clerk Kabombo Mutekela welcomed the councilors and encouraged them to take the oath seriously and abide by it in order to serve the people.

“As a councilor, you don’t expect much, your job is to offer a service to the people and I would like to urge you to be as that to the people who elected you,” said.

Among the Councillors that sworn in today 28 were men and one lady Rhoda Mulenga of Chiwempala ward.

Mr Mutekela urged all the Councillors and the people who were present to give maximum support to Rhonda Mulenga in order for her to deliver.

“I would like to urge all of you to give support to the lady, she is handling a very complicated ward and therefore, she needs the support from all of us,” he said.

The Town Clerk also emphasized the need to unity the district and the country as whole regardless of political affiliation for Zambia to move forward.

He said the duty of all the Councillors is to ensure that they unity the people in the ward so that they can work together in bringing development in the ward.
