The College of Bishops of the Christian Coalition of Zambia has commended President Hakainde Hichilema on his inspiring inaugural speech which has set a tone for the developmental agenda of the country.

The Coalition’s president Charles Mwape said that the coalition believes that Zambian people will give the new administration time to settle and ensure that they embark on continuity and development for the betterment of the country.
Professor Mwape also said that time for politicking, division and hate speech is over, but now is the time to work together as a nation regardless of religious and political affiliation.

“We hope that the UPND government will take into account those that lost employment and retired in national interest because they were perceived as UPND, will be reinstated, to indicate the UPND’s commitment in ensuring that no civil servant shall be victimized on the bases of political affiliation,” he said.

Professor Mwape said however the coalition believes that civil service must be beyond political change.
He also said that civil servants that are serving the Zambian people automatically must support the government of the day.

“It is expected that the civil service will rise up beyond politics and support the new government and the new leader, we want to urge the UPND not make the mistake that the PF government made in 2011 were all serving civil servants in various political offices were retired, the transitional change of appointed civil servants should be on merit as President Hichilema, stated,” he said.

Professor Mwape said that the coalition will be working with the UPND government in line with the provision of the constitution which mandates the coalition to work with the government of the day
