The Opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) has called on the stop of tribal politics in the country.
Speaking when he addressed a media briefing yesterday, Vice president for politics and administration, Reuben Mtolo Phiri described politics of tribe, religion and race as a recipe for anarchy, stressing that they do not deserve any room in the nation.
Mr Phiri said the Country has political leaders from all regions of the country, as such they need to be judged by what they are capable of bringing on the table and not their ethnicity.
He adds that such politics are retrogressive to nation’s growth, adding that he stands ready to differ with anyone who will judge politicians based on the region they hail from.
Mr Phiri has noted that his party has identified some parts on the nation’s democracy that need to be improved on.
He said the MMD strongly believes that not everything that is happening in the nation currently is perceived as correct.
Mr Phiri however notes that the MMD will not attack the government through the media, but will instead use its president Felix Mutati who is a cabinet minister to air it’s grievances.
