ECL urges PF members not revenge Kungo’s death

Outgoing President Edgar Lungu has urged PF members in North Western Province not to revenge the death of the party’s Provincial Chairperson Jackson Kungo.

President Lungu said PF members should work at promoting efforts aimed at building peace, President Lungu further regretted the death of Mr Kungo.

“The reintroduction of multi-party politics was not meant to destroy the peace of the country, Zambians hate violence and that is why they removed UNIP, MMD and now the PF from power, Zambia is as well a Christian Nation were all the citizens should live in peace,” he said.

President Lungu added that he will not petition the election but will allow for the smooth transition of power.

President Lungu was speaking during the burial Service for Mr Kungo in Solwezi District, who  was killed by a mob on the of August the voting day on suspicion that he had premarked ballot papers

And, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila said Mr Kungo was killed without committing any crime.

North Western Province Permanent Secretary Willies Mangimela thanked President Lungu for attending the funeral.

Mr Mangimela said there is now peace in the Province following a decision to deploy soldiers on the street.

“Let me take this opportunity to congratulate President elect Hakainde Hichilema for winning the August 12th Election, civil servants in the Province are ready to save the government of the day,” he said.
