By MAIMBO MWEEMBA
Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has directed all police officers to ensure that they act swiftly and bring to a stop the prevailing violent behavior.

Mr Kanganja said Police Commissioners must ensure that they identify areas where such cases are high and deploy more officers to curb the prevailing public misconduct.

Mr Kanganja said all those that took part in looting of property of innocent Zambians should be arrested and and charged accordingly.

“It is dreadful to see an officer being humiliated, in a video that has gone viral, by criminals under the pretext of politics, we want to see the culprits arrested because such hooliganism should not be left unchecked, President elect Hakainde Hichilema was very categorical on political violence as well cadres occupation of markets and bus stations,” he said.

Mr Kanganja said police officers working with other stakeholders such as local authorities should, ensure that responsible institutions take over the running of markets and bus stations and that sanity and order returns to the these places.
