UPND Alliance partner, Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) President Felix Mutati has called on electorates and sympathizers on the Copperbelt to keep their eyes on the ball and remain resilient even as the voting day fast approaches in order to protect their majority votes.
And Mr Mutati painted the entire Kabushi Constituency in Ndola red as residents joined him during his facemask distribution and Covid-19 sensitization exercise which has commenced on the Copperbelt.
Addressing a mobilization meeting prior to the facemask distribution, Mr Mutati told supporters that he is confident that the people on the Copperbelt will turn out in large numbers to vote for the UPND Alliance next week Thursday to secure a landslide victory.
Mr Mutati said the supporters of the different political parties in the UPND Alliance should work in unity especially during this crucial time when the voting day draws closer, urging them to vote in large numbers to secure a first round victory.
Mr Mutati said it is imperative for the supporters not only on the Copperbelt but across the country to keep their eyes on the ball and ensure that they protect the UPND Alliance vote.
He said no one should accept any form of vote buying or electoral malpractice because their task is to mobilize votes for the alliance and protect it in order to have the presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema in State House this month.
And Mr Mutati said the Patriotic Front is currently panicking because of the UPND Alliance’s popularity across the country and will stop at nothing but attempt to block all manner of campaigns for the opposition especially the alliance using state machinery.
He however said supporters should refuse to be distracted but remain calm regardless of the panic from the PF.
Mr Mutati said the majority people’s right to vote and change government will be exercised on Thursday next week, August 12 without hindrance.
Mr Mutati is on the Copperbelt with NDC President Joseph Akafumba, MDC Deputy Secretary General Joyce Musenge and MDC Chairperson for Disability Sarah Brotherton to drum up support for the UPND presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Mutale Nalumango as well as all the other alliance candidates across the province.
