136 illegal immigrates convicted

The Chipata Regional Immigration Office has Secured 136 Convictions for illegal immigrates in 3 Days.

immigrations Public Relations Officer Namati  Nshinka said in the last two days between  July 27 and 28, 2021 secured convictions of 109 Ethiopian Nationals.

Mr Nshinka said The Ethiopians were apprehended within Eastern province for failing to appear before an Immigration Officer on entry.

He said they were each sentenced to fines ranging from K 300 to K 700 or in default 2 to 4 months simple imprisonment respectively.

In another development, the Kabwe Regional Immigration Office on Tuesday July 27, 2021 apprehended two Asians in separate incidents for abrogating terms and conditions of their Employment Permits.

Mr Nshinka said Nairu Chen 46, holder of an Employment Permit under Biway Company Limited as a Country Manager was found working at the counter at the said company.

He said Similarly, Mohammadadil Iqbal Bhura, 26, holder of an Employment Permit under Bhura Enterprises as an Analysis Manager was found working as a cashier at the said company. The process to revoke the two permits is underway.

Similarly, the Kitwe Immigration Office on July 27, 2021 apprehended nineteen 19 Tanzanian illegal immigrants during a cleanup operation conducted at Chisokene Market.

Mr Nshinka said during this same period the Department also removed twenty-six (26) illegal immigrants from the country and refused 26 foreign nationals of different nationalities entry into Zambia for failing to meet entry requirements.

“We also wish to encourage members of the public with information of an individual, business, or employer who may be aiding and abetting illegal immigrants to contact the Department of Immigration,” he said.
