Rainbow party has welcomed President Edgar Lungu’s decision to offer debt swap to all civil servants who have been living on debt.
Rainbow Party National Spokesperson Humphrey Kabwe said the debts have lowered their working moral that is why they have been calling on govt to redeem them.
Mr Kabwe says it is pleasing to see government come to the aid of the civil servants.
He said the debt swap will boost their working moral and improve productivity as well as increase income disposal among the civil servants.
“As a party, we commend president Lungu’s Government for this bold decision they have taken. It is our belief that a government should offer solutions to the people. Therefore, we are appealing to all the civil servants to give support president Lungu and the PF by voting them back. We urge the civil servants to ignore those politicians who are against the debt swap. Their negative reaction to the debt swap simply shows that they are happy to see the civil servants continue living in debt. Why should it be wrong to appreciate someone with a vote who has helped you come out your challenge?” he said.
Mr Kabwe said the Rainbow party is of the view that, there is need to set up a local banking system that will provide banking and financial services to the people , in particular loans to grow the economy and not rely on foreign banking services which does provide solutions to the economy.
