Chiwenzi Netball Club, the team being sponsored by Chingola Municipal Council has come out second at the just ended Farmers’ Day netball Tournament that was held in Kitwe.
The team has been outstanding on the Copperbelt consistently winning and out of the 15 participating teams at the tournament Chiwenzi came out second.
The Team Representative Victoria Mbangweta said the Mayor’s office has been helpful in sponsoring the team with away and home fixtures thereby not missing any game.
Mbangweta however said that the team has been faced with a lot of challenges with the training kits, allowances and lack of employment.
Receiving the trophy, Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo said that his Council wants to run a district of health people, hence supporting sporting activities.
Tembo said Chingola Council is also supporting Chiwepala Leopards Football club.
He said the Council will continue to support the team and look in into the challenges the team is facing despite its small financial basket.
