The Patriotic Front under President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is bouncing back after the much-anticipated 12th August poll, former Minister has said.
Former Legislator, Raphael Nakacinda, affirms President Lungu is retaining power because he has worked for Zambians and all can feel it across the country.
And Mr Nakacinda has noted that the behavior exhibited by opposition United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema during the funeral of Zambia’s Founding President, Kenneth Kaunda, was ‘immature’.
The immediate past Minister for Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection, said the act by Mr Hichilema not to attend the State funeral and later pose for photos comfortably in his house and days later causing drama during the Church Service and Burial was uncalled for.
He said Mr Hichilema as the biggest opposition leader in the country should have not dramatized the funeral of the Statesman in that fashion because Dr. Kaunda was too noble to get such a send off from a man who wants to lead the country Kaunda fought for.
“We saw other opposition leaders there like Nevers Mumba, Sean Tembo and others without being dramatic. Unfortunately, Mr. Hichilema lost an opportunity to show statesmanship and patriotism during the funeral of Dr. Kaunda through the drama he created,” he said.
Mr Nakachinda said it is unfortunate that some candidates want to use anger of their past lives to form government to revenge.
He said one of the candidates wants to use frustration of leaving a Ministerial position and form a party with a view to challenge the Governing Patriotic Front on none existent issues while another is frustrated that his newspaper was closed and hence seeking to become President on that angry scorecard.
Mr Nakachinda said the Education sector has been improved to cater for all as evident in an increase of learning facilities around the country at all levels.
“We had two main public Universities but today we are talking of over eight public Universities and now we have a number of private universities constructed across the country. This all did not come from nowhere, but through the plans and programs the Government has put up and is spearheading,” he said.
