Mpongwe records high number of COVID-19 cases

Mpongwe District has recorded the highest number of Coronavirus cases on the Copperbelt.

The third wave of the pandemic has hit the country badly with a number of people who have reported dead or died from from the virus rising on a daily basis.

Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe disclosed the development during a media briefing at his office.

Mr Nundwe said about half of the population in the district have tested positive to Covid19.

He said teachers are amoung the people who have tested positive.

“I have received news that is not exciting, that one of the district on the copperbelt has reached alarming levels of Covid19 cases. Three quaters of the people have tested positive for covid19,” he said.

He said Government will make sure that people are tested and vaccinated in the district.

“We will make sure we go there full time and full throttle to make sure people can be vaccinated.

“Almost half of the population of Mpongwe District is affected more especially teachers,” Mr Nundwe said.
