KK’s birthday April 28 , declared National holiday

President Edgar Lungu declared Kenneth Kaunda’s birthday day 28 April, as a public holiday in honour of him.

Speaking during the funeral mass at Holly Cross in Lusaka yesterday, President Lungu said that Dr Kaunda was a unifier who managed to unity 72 tribes through one Zambia one Nation.

He said there is need to uphold one Zambia one nation as the motto of the nation.

“Africa was blessed with Dr Kaunda who stood for trust, who United the nation regardless of the tribe, hence the need to uphold one Zambia one nation as the motto of our Country,” he said.

And fourth republican President Rupiya Banda said that this years election should be the most peaceful elections in honour of KK because he was a peaceful man.

Dr Kaunda was born on April 28, in Lubwa Mission Chinsali Mulching Province.

He ruled Zambia for 27 years from 1964-1991.
Dr Kaunda became the first President of Zambia at Independence on October 1964.

He was the last serving among Pan-Africa leaders who fought for Liberation for Africa.
