Kambwili’s suspension unfair

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Zambian DNA Spokesperson Spuki Mulemwa says ECZ’s decision to suspend Chishimba Kambwili indefinitely from campaigning is unfair as he was not accorded an opportunity to exculpate himself.

Mr Mulemwa said the organizations detest hate speech, tribal remarks and unpalatable language but ECZ has tolerated opposition UPND who have been on the rampage instigating political violence.

He said in some cases resulting in death as was the case in Nalikwanda in Mongu District where a PF member was attacked and beaten to death by UPND, as well as damage to innocent citizens’ property yet no punishment was meted out on the culprits as they have done to Mr Kambwili.

Mr Mulemwa said similarly, the same opposition party leaders and their surrogates in an alliance with media outlets hostile to government have used vulgar and unpalatable language laced with hate speech when criticizing President Edgar Lungu, yet again no action was taken by the said electoral body.

“We expect the ECZ to enforce the electoral code of conduct fairly without fear, favour or discrimination,” he said.
