President Edgar Lungu yesterday declared today, July 2, and Wednesday July 7, as non-working days in honor of the first president Kenneth Kaunda.
President Lungu said this will enable Zambians to follow proceedings of the state funeral and burial on July 7, 2021.
speaking when he addressed the nation, President Lungu said people are encouraged to follow the proceedings via the public broadcaster and other media platforms available.
President Lungu said dignitaries from other African countries, Europe, the African human commission; the commonwealth secretariat and COMESA will also be in attendance.
He the attendance of all the dignitaries is an affirmation of Dr Kaunda’s role in the liberation struggle, global peace and security agenda as well as the common goal of sustainable development and regional integration.
