Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has awarded Nkana points following the use of a player who was serving a Red Card suspension by Young Green Eagles.
The FAZ Player Status Committee has overturned the result of the Week 32 match between Young Green Eagles Football Club and Nkana Football Club after the latter lodged a protest over the home team’s.
Young Green Eagles won the match 3-2 at Khosa Stadium.
Prior to the match, FAZ secretariat had waived the suspension and instead fined Young Green Eagles K5,000.00 which the club paid. Young Green Eagles had their eligible goalkeepers injured while another was on national duty with the Chipolopolo. Young Green Eagles requested for a waiver and were granted to field the suspended player who sat on the bench during the fixture.
However, the Player Status Committee Chaired by Lusaka Lawyer and former FAZ Executive Committee member Lombe Mbalashi and deputized by FAZ Copperbelt Chairman and Executive Committee member Patrick Ndhlovu overturned the decision.
The committee further awarded the game to Nkana with a 3-0 score line.
According to a verdict by the Player Status Committee, the use of an ineligible player by Young Green Eagles in the match against Nkana was against the rules.
This means that Nkana move to 44 points before the final game against demoted NAPSA Stars Football club and Young Green Eagles Football Club move down from 42 points to 39 points before their game against Lusaka Dynamos Football Club.
“The Player Status Committee has considered the evidence presented and rules that Nkana’s complaint has merit, and it has been accepted. The committee has made the following decision and reads the verdict from the committee.
“That the committee has overturned the outcome of the game by directing those three (3) points be awarded to Nkana FC with a three-nil score-line.”
Young Green Eagles has been given 14 days to appeal the decision.
And the FAZ Disciplinary Committee has ordered that Kashikishi Warriors play their eight home matches at a neutral venue and fined them K30, 000.
The FAZ Disciplinary Committee has awarded three points to Trident FC in the Week 33 match they played with Kashikishi Warriors which ended 1-1.
The game was abandoned following an attack of referee Mathews Nyirenda who was evacuated to hospital.
“The Disciplinary Committee has considered the Referees’ Report and Article 31 of the FAZ Disciplinary Code,” reads the verdict in part.
“Three points be awarded to Trident FC with 3-0 score-line. That the respondent club (Kashikishi Warriors) is banned from playing at their home ground for eight (8) games. They should first play their next eight home matches at a neutral venue.”
Kashikishi Warriors have also been ordered to pay K5, 000 to the injured match officials and refund their medical expenses.
“The respondent club (Kashikishi Warriors) is fined K30, 000 to be paid within seven days,” reads the verdict.
