The Disaster Management and Mitigation unit (DMMU) says the 21 days of school closure will be used to sanitize various schools across the country.
DMMU national coordinator Chanda Kabwe says the unit will continue exploring best ways of improving safety in schools during the coronavirus third wave.
Mr Kabwe said various communities also have pupils that cannot afford face masks, saying that is the responsible of government to provide for the needy.
“In term one, when schools reopened, government provided 3 million face masks to the learners and teachers, now as the schools have closed we will ensure that vulnerable in communities are provided for, because they are needed in the country as well,” he said.
Mr Kabwe said that government is ready to help the vulnerable in the community and protect each and every life in the country
