Kaoma farmers that sold their Maize to the FRA paid

By MAIMBO MWEEMBA
Food Reserve Agency FRA Executive Director Chola Kafwabulula says the fact that Kaoma farmers that sold their maize to the agency have been paid shows how President Edgar Lungu attaches great importance to the plight of rural farmers and the agriculture sector as a whole.

Mr Kafwabulula is happy that even before the official launch of this year’s crop marketing season, farmers countrywide have started to sell their crops to the FRA.

“As of Tuesday, FRA Kaoma satellite depot bought over three hundred bags of white maize, with all the farmers paid by Wednesday morning,” he said.

And, farmers in Kaoma are happy with this year’s maize price which has been put at 150 Kwacha per 50kg of white maize.

Representing farmers in Kaoma, Du Mbangu, said the new price has attracted many farmers to sell their produce to the agency.

The Food Reserve Agency will also buy a 50 kilogram bag of soya beans at 500 Kwacha while paddy rice will be bought at 200 Kwacha per 40kilogram bag.
