Zambian Students studying in the UK can travel and attend their studies

United Kingdom Minister for Africa at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) James Doddridge MP, has advised that students coming from red list countries including Zambia can travel and attend their studies as long as they abide by the laws on Covid-19.

This follows queries raised by African Union (AU) Heads of Mission during a meeting with the Minister for Africa, held in March regarding visa and red list.

The Minister said applications for study continue to be processed from all locations on the UK’s red list.

“Students from Zambia intending to travel to England must complete a passengers’ locator form, take a covid-19 test and book a quarantine hotel package, including two COVID-19 tests. On arrival in England, individuals must quarantine in a managed hotel, including taking two Covid-19 tests. Separate guidance is available for travelers entering Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland,” he said.

In January this year, the UK Government extended travel restrictions to Zambia and Southern African countries to protect against the spread of a new COVID-19 variant that was detected in South Africa.

This is according to a media statement issued by the first secretary for press and public relations at Zambian high commission in the United Kingdom,  Abigail Chaponda.
