Mundubile condemns campaign violence

By MAIMBO MWEEMBA
Patriotic Front’s Member of the Central Committee Brian Mundubile has condemned reported acts of political violence reported in recent days.

Speaking when he addressed the media in Kasama, Mr Mundubile said the violence that happened in Mpulungu District over the weekend is unacceptable.

Mr Mundubile accused the opposition of perpetrating violence due to lack of a campaign message to the Zambians.

“Let opposition party leaders be challenged to emulate President Edgar Lungu and speak out against electoral violence, the ruling party is peaceful and believes in issue-based campaigns,” he said

Mr Mundubile, who is also PF Candidate for Mporokoso constituency, observed that it is immoral for any political leader to take pride in violence.

“The ruling by the constitutional court on President Lungu’s eligibility to contest the August 12 elections must be respected by all politicians, the ruling is a clear indication that PF is a law abiding party,” he said.
Mr Mundubile is confidence that the PF will return to power based on achievements recorded in line with its pro-poor policies.

And Democratic Party President Harry Kalaba has condemned political parties that are supporting electoral violence.

Mr Kalaba said it is sad that some politicians want to use other people’s children to fight when theirs are at home.

“If this is allowed to continue it will discourage people from participating in voting, those who mean well for the country should condemn acts of violence by all means,” he said.
