Boy die in ox-cart traffic accident in Namwala

A boy has died on the spot following the overturning of an ox-cut he was being ridden in, in Namwala.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the development to The Independent Observer that the boy (5) died after the ox-cart had hit into a tree thereby overturning.

Ms Katongo said the accident happened on September 2, around 15hours.

She said the body is in Namwala District hospital mortuary.

In related incidences, two juvenile have died on the spot in two separate accidents.

Ms Katongo said a girl died on the spot while three others including the driver sustained injuries in an accident which occurred on  September 2, around 17:40 hours in Nchelenge.

She said the accident happened when the victim came out of a taxi which was packed off the road, hence was hit by the oncoming Mercedes Benz registration number ALV 8770, the property of Zesco.

“This resulted in the driver of Motor Vehicle to losing control thereby careering off the and overturned. The driver sustained general body pains whilst the two other passengers sustained multiple injuries. All victims are admitted to St. Paul’s Mission Hospital while the body of the deceased is lying in the Mortuary,” she said.

Meanwhile, in Lusaka a male juvenile aged two years died on the spot in an accident which occurred when the pedestrian was crossing the road and in the process was hit by Toyota Dyna registration number BAB 1304 driven by Mwelwa Enock 34.

The body is in levy Mwanawasa General Hospital mortuary.
