Local Government Permanent Sectary Matthew Ngulube has applauded Chingola Municipal for the construction of market shelters in the district.
Mr Ngulube has also encouraged other Councils to emulate Chingola Council to put CDF to good use of infrastructure development.
He said he was impressed to note that local contractors have built the shelters especially the Chilembe Shelter which is one of the biggest in the country.
Mr Ngulube said that the shelters will give marketeers the zeal to trade in a good, clean and conducive environment.
He encouraged marketeers to occupy the shelters which have been opened and keep the markets clean and not destroying anything.
Mr Nguluba said that the marketeers will trade in a better environment away from the sun.
He said that the government is creating an enabling environment for the marketeers to trade in.
“We want our people not to trade in the sun or streets where it is not safe for them, so we are putting up shelters for them to trade in,” he said.
