Super Division side Zanaco have sent their head coach Chris Kaunda on leave barely 24 hours after the Bankers lost 4-0 to Buildcon at home.
The Bankers becomes the sixth club to place their coach on administrative leave this season after Nkana, Power Dynamos, Forest Rangers, Kabwe Warriors and Napsa Stars.
Kaunda joins Kelvin Kaunda, Perry Mutapa, Tenant Chilumba, Levy Chabala and Mohamed Fathi who were sent on administrative leave at Nkana, Power, Forest, Warriors and Napsa.
On Sunday Zanaco were humiliated by Buildcon, a defeat which came four days after relegated Kitwe United also edged them 2-1 at home.
According to a statement released by club media and public relations officer Martha Nshimbi, Kaunda will not be in charge of the team for the last four games of the season.
She said that club General Manager Marlon Kananda announced the development to the players and technical bench this morning.
“Management have reached a decision to put their head coach on leave following a string of poor results.
“Kaunda’s one and half season stint as Zanaco FC coach has come to a halt after two consecutive defeats to bottom placed Kitwe United and Buildcon FC,” read part of the statement.
She said team manager Robin Munsaka, a former assistant coach to Mumamba Numba will take charge of the team in an interim capacity until the end of the season.
Zanaco are second on the log with 50 points, eight behind leaders Zesco United, who will be crowned champions if they win their next two matches.
