The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) in conjunction with the Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA), Zambia Police, and Kiwi Zambia have seized counterfeit goods worth K16, 742 in Chinsali and Mpika Central Business Districts.

CCPC Senior Public Relations Officer Namukolo Kasumpa said the products seized include counterfeit Kiwi Shoe Polish and Ajax both of which did not meet the mandatory product information standards set by CCPA Act.

Ms Kasumpa said the seizure of goods was conducted during a routine inspection of trading premises in Muchinga Province with the view of ascertaining the traders’ compliance levels with the CCPC Act.

“The Commission would like to advise all suppliers, retailers and distributors to desist from the sale of counterfeit products and will punish all perpetrators of such unfair trading practices in accordance with the law,” she said.

She said the Commission will continue to work with the Zambia Police and ZCSA among other institutions in its quest to curb both anti-competitive business behavior and unfair trading practices for the benefit of the people of Zambia and its economy.
