Chingola District Commissioner Agnes Tonga has urged all political players in the district to uphold the peace that the nation has enjoyed.
Ms Tonga said this last evening during the prayers that her office organized at Town Centre’s Immanuel Fellowship Church along Kwacha Street.
She said the political players should keep peace that has made other country in the region to hold Zambia in high spirit.
She advised the people not let to politics divide the nation as Zambia is bigger than any politician.
Ms Tonga said Government through the Ministry of Guidance and Religious Affairs want to bridge the gap between the Church and government.
She encouraged the church to continue preaching peace and praying for the Nation as they remain neutral.
Ms Tonga said the diligence of the church has gotten the nation to where the people and the country is at the moment.
She has told the youths to have issue based campaigns and exchange ideas as people of one Zambia one nation without violence.
Ms Tonga said the men in uniform should maintain peace and order during this time of campaigns and urged the media to report accurately as they create an enabling platform to inform and educate the general public.
And Independent Council of Churches Chingola Chairperson Bishop Ellison Bwalya said that prayer is key for national peace.
He said that if the country can unity together in prayer then the lord will fight the national battles and guide the leaders in doing the right thing.
