Use online platform for campaigns-DEGHA

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Democratic Governance and Human Rights Advocates ( DEGHA) Executive Director Gerald Mutelo has urged political parties contesting the August general elections to consider other means of campaigning to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Mr Mutelo said politicians should consider using online platforms, and using other platform such as radio and televisions to spread their manifesto.

He said he was not discouraging people from campaigning but it is important to keep people safe from COVID -19 by discouraging large gatherings.

Mr Mutelo has however called on the ruling Patriotic front PF to lead by example in observing the COVID-19 guidelines as campaign get to a heat in the country.

He said that PF has been the number one breaker of the COVID-19 guideline evidenced by the huge crowds during its meetings with members.

“The ruling party is a biggest political party that should ensure that guidelines are followed by its supporter during campaigns,” he said.
