Ndola Central Constituency independent aspiring Member of Parliament Chungu Kapema says it is of great concern that differently abled people have been left out in most of the government’s empowerment programs.
Mr Kapema said that the differently abled people in the country lack relevant support from government and other stakeholders which would enable them to better their lives.
“I believe that there is so much more that can be done for differently abled people, such as offering unique skills to enable them to have life sustaining skills. The differently abled should be offered with skills that will generate finances and in turn better their lives and will lessen them roaming the central business district.
“A disability is not an inability, hence the need for the differently abled to be considered and included in all programs aimed at bettering living standards. Disability does not mean inability, the physically challenged people should be considered in all programs initiated to alleviate suffering and poverty,” he said.
He also called on the well abled citizens not to disregard the differently abled citizens, but rather treat them equally as they deserve.
