Traditional leaders key partners in development – Nakachinda

Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Raphael Nakachinda says traditional leaders are key partners in Government’s development agenda.

Mr Nakachinda was speaking yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on Chief Mukumbi Kizhela of the Kaonde speaking people of Mufumbwe.

He said the population of Mufumbwe is growing at a fast rate because of the increase in mining activities in the area and working together with traditional leaders is vital.

Mr Nakachinda said this is the reason why Government is also accelerating infrastructure development in all areas including the water sector.

He said water is life and clean water and sanitation will end water bone diseases in the area.

Mr Nakachinda said that Government is engaging traditional leaders at all levels of development as key partners.

And Chief Mukumbi Kizela thanked the Minister and his Entourage for the visit.

Mr Nakachinda also paid a courtesy call on Kabompo District Commissioner Patrick Kasoka.

He said that the President wants to achieve 100 percent access to clean water and Sanitation for all Zambians as outlined in the vision 2030.

And Kabompo District Commissioner Patrick Kasoka has called for the introduction of small town water scheme’s in order to meet the growing water demands in the area.

Mr Kasoka welcomed President Lungu and the Government for partnering in development with the people of Kabompo.
