Four consecutive wins cheer Buffaloes coach

By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Green Buffaloes coach Justin Chinama says winning four consecutive matches is a step in the right direction for his team as they attempt to finish in the top eight.

On Wednesday, Buffaloes beat Forest Rangers 2-1 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium to boost their chances of surviving relegation.

Win pushed the soldiers to 35 points on the Super Division Table.

Chinama said in a post-match interview that the team is targeting five more wins out of the remaining matches to grant them safety.

“I am happy for the team. I think it’s a step in the right direction as we try to run away from the red zone. The boys played well especially in the first half but second half I think we went down a bit, we failed to deal with the long balls Forest resorted to play, however we will make amends in case we meet another team that plays such type of football. Four wins on a trot is a good sign.

“If we can have five more wins, the better for us, we can’t leave it late we will keep on singing the song of consistence. If we maintain the consistence in winning and win the next five games, I think we will be out of that dangerzone and be able to finish in the top eight,” said Chinama, who replaced Bilton Musonda over two months ago.

Striker Friday Samu netted a first half brace against Forest to inspire the soldiers to a fourth victory in a row.

Zimbabwean Thomas Chideu scored a face saver for Forest.

Before Wednesday’ game, Buffaloes had beaten Young Green Eagles, Buildcon and Napsa Stars.
