…………………… Kitwe Town Clerk castigates the power utility company.
Kitwe Town Clerk Bonwell Luanga has described, as disheartening, the decision by Zesco Limited to install pre-paid meters on four of the traffic lights junctions in the city.
Mr Luanga wondered what kind of social responsibility Zesco is offering to the city of Kitwe if it insists on installing pre-paid meters on traffic lights.
Mr Luanga said the council does not generate any benefit in the provision of service of traffic lights and that the local authority is wondering why the Power Utility Company has taken such a decision.
He disclosed that the local authority has since decided to buy solar panels so that it can install and power the traffic lights with solar.
In a related development, a total of 4,850 Forms where sold to the general public by Kitwe City Council in the just ended plots application exercise.
The Council had two weeks ago placed an advertisement requesting the general public to apply for low cost, medium, and high cost plots which the local authority has created in the area called New Kitwe OR Kafue park.
A total of 1,500 plots are ear-marked for allocation.
Kitwe Town Clerk Bonwell Luanga said the local authority will by the second week of September; advertise for people to come for interviews.
Mr. Luanga said the council is targeting to complete the whole process and allocate the pieces of land to successful applicants by September month end.
