Fathi pleased with Napsa performance in CAF Cup

Napsa Stars coach Mohammed Fathi is pleased with his team’s performance in the CAF Confederation Cup despite exiting at the group stage.

Napsa finished bottom of Group B with four points after recording a win, a draw plus four defeats in six matches.

The Lusaka side concluded CAF Confederation Cup group stage action with a 2-1 loss to J.S Kabylie in Algeria on Wednesday.

Speaking to Journalists Fathi said Napa tried their best despite being in a tough group.

‘So far so good for us, we know what we are supposed to do for next season. We have learnt a lot of lessons from the Confederation Cup,’ Fathi said.

Kabylie and CotonSport of Cameroon have qualified to the quarterfinals from Group B.

‘I think for us as Napsa Stars, for the first time in continental and reaching the group stage.  We have played six games in the group stage, we have lost four and we have won one and we drew one. We only lost one game at home,’ he said.

‘So it’s not bad for us as debutants to come up with this performance. I think next year we will maintain the same team and we are able to fix our mistakes,’ Fathi said.

Meanwhile, Napsa are now shifting focus to FAZ Super Division action as they face Green Buffaloes on Sunday at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium.
