NAPSA eliminated from CAF cup

Napsa Stars have ended their CAF Confenderation Cup journey on a losing note after JS Kabylie edged them on Wednesday night in Algeria.

Kabylie won 2-1.

The Pensioners who managed to win once in six games bowed out of the competition with three two matches to go.

Napsa finished bottom in Group B with four points,they lost six times and drew once.

Coach Mohamed Fathi said in a post-match interview that despite been not progressing to the next stage his charges have learnt lessons and will use the experience attained in the competition for future assignments.

“Despite lossing, we managed to fight and managed to score a goal but I think we didn’t have enough time to equalise. It was our first time to play continental so next time we will be able to work on our mistakes,” he said.

Kabylie took the lead through Mohamed Bencherifa in 29th minute before Kouceila Boualia doubled the lead on 57 minutes.

The visitors scored a consolation through striker Emmanuel Mayuka at death.

Fathi said his charges played experienced teams but they managed to play the games tactically.

“We played experienced teams and managed to reach this far. I’m not regretting anything, I’m proud of my players,” he said.

Defending champions Berkane of Morocco and Cameroonian Coton Sport were the other teams Napsa faced in the group.

Kabylie and Coton Sport are through to the last eight after finishing as group winners and runners-up with 12 and nine points respectively.

Napsa were making their debut in the competition.
