By Mercy Chewe
Struggling National Rugby League side Diggers have moved out of the bottom position for the first team this season despite losing to Nkwazi 23-17 in Lusaka on Saturday.

Diggers earned their first point of the season for losing with a margin of less than seven points to Nkwazi.

The bonus point moved Diggers from number eight into seventh position with one point from three matches played.

Diggers have two disputed matches against KPF and Green Eagles.

Nkwazi stayed third on the table after the win to move to 13 points.

Meanwhile, holders Red Arrows are now one point away from the top after thrashing Lusaka 48-12 in the Lusaka derby.

Arrows have moved to 17 points, just one behind leaders Mufulira Leopards, who were not in action as their opponents Buffaloes had players away on National duty.

Fourth placed KPF beat Green Eagles 15-9 Green Eagles in Kitwe to move from nine to 13 points.

Kabwe side Eagles are three points behind KPF.
