Local football star Alex “Bazo” Ng’onga missed a penalty but later scored a consolation goal as his new team Nkana lost 2-1 to Indeni in Kitwe.

International striker Ng’onga officially joined Nkana on Friday just days after leaving Kitwe rivals Power Dynamos.

Ng’onga’s goal came in the 78th minute when Nkana were already 2-0 down.

Indeni took a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to defender Cephas Handavu’s 12th minute strike from close range.

Ng’onga missed a chance to equalise for Kalampa two minutes later when missing a penalty he won at Nkana Stadium after he was brought down in the Indeni box.

Indeni doubled the lead when Tika Chiluba beat Moses Mapulanga in a goal mouth scramble in the 60th minute.

Indeni moves to 30 points after playing 24 matches as Nkana remain second from the bottom with 21 points from 21 matches.

Meanwhile, newly appointed coach Beston Chambishi watched from the stands as he awaits his registration card from FAZ.
