Newly appointed Buildcon first assistant coach Dabid Chilufya says the Ndola side should not be written off in the race to win the Super Division title and will strive to achieve that target.
Chilufya said in an interview after overseeing his first game that despite trailing Zesco by nine points his charges are still in the race to win the title.
“The league is too tight and anybody that does win three-four games will get to the top, even if Zesco is there, if we win three-four games will still get there,” he said. “So we have the hope that we can get the league or we can finish in the top four and that is what we are fighting for.”
The former Indeni trainer was roped in as first assistant trainer last week.
Chilufya will work with Boyd Mulwanda and Mike Mbuyi, who are second assistant and goalkeeper trainer respectively.
Prior to the engagement of the former Zanaco assistant coach, Mulwanda and Mbuyi were calling shots.
Meanwhile, Forest Rangers have a chance to close the gap on leaders Zesco United when they take on Lumwana Radiants in a Week 26 encounter in Solwezi.
Forest are third on the table with 38 points, eight behind Zesco but if they conquer in Solwezi tomorrow they will reduce the gap to five points.
Other matches will see Indeni hosting Nkwazi in Ndola while struggling Green Buffaloes will welcome Young Green Eagles in Lusaka.
Power Dynamos have a date with Green Eagles in Kitwe on Thursday.
Matches involving Zesco and Prison Leopards, and Lusaka Dynamos versus Kitwe United have been postponed.
Dynamos requested for their match against Kitwe which was scheduled for Garden Park Stadium to be postponed to allow them concentrate on this weekend’s ABSA Cup final with Zesco.
