By JOHN SAKALA
Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa has handed over the Amlew ablution block to the community of Chibanyama.

The Amlew ablution block is an initiative of Mr Nkhuwa who had promised to uplift the sanitation standards of the area.

Initially, the community was using nearby ablution which had no water and was ever chocked prompting the area to have strange smell.

Mr Nkhuwa said after visiting the area in 2016 during his campaigns, he promised to the people that he will construct a dignified ablution block for them.

He said the K600, 0000 Amlew project is fitted with showers, lavatories, hand basins and come with independent water reticulations.

“A borehole has been sunk fitted with solar pump so that the overhead tank can improve the pressure of water. Here we are killing two birds with one stone. We are giving our people clean drinking water and dignified sanitation,” he said.

He thanked Aunthetix for the donation of the money and Matty Investments for the supervisory role in the execution of the project.

And regarding the candidature of his son Maposa, Mr Nkhuwa said there are five candidates that are vying for the Chingola seat who will be scrutinized the PF Central Committee.

“PF is a democratic party and the authority to choose candidates is entirely the responsibility of the PF supreme body, the Central Committee but if you were to ask me, I will rally behind Maposa because no father can abandon a son,” he said.

At the same function, Maposa who looked more in the game, donated toiletries among them sanitizer, bathing soap, toilet paper and some detergents to Amlew committee.

Maposa who is Matty Investments Technical Director donated the toiletries on behalf of Matty.

Speaking earlier, Chabanyama Ward Councillor, William Kabuswe said the ablution block was milestone to his people.

Mr Kabuswe said apart from the ablution block, a market shelter has been done at Chabanyama market.

He said Chingola in general has a lot of projects to point to, all because of President Edgar Lungu and Mr Nkhuwa.

Chingola Constituency Development Trust (CCDT) vice Chairperson Fridah Chanda said CCDT has completely several projects aimed at improving the lives of the people.

Ms Chanda said Amlew ablution block will ensure that people have proper sanitation and safe drinking water.

She said in the education sector, several classroom blocks have been constructed while two police posts two have been commissioned and handed over to communities.

PF Chingola Constituency acting Chairperson Jacob Kasongo said President Lungu and Mr Nkhuwa have empowered several people and deserve to be supported by the clergy and the general populous.

And Chingola District Commissioner Agnes Tonga said back will be re-elected in 2021 because of the massive development.

Ms Tonga implored the people not to let go of the vision of President Lungu.

And in a vote of thanks Cleopatra Chileshe, one of the community members of Almew thanked Mr Nkhuwa for the project.
