PS works on disciplinary action over social media video

Secretary to the Cabinet Simon Miti has called for immediate disciplinary action on Works and Supply Permanent Secretary Lenox Kalonde over the harassment of a civil servant by alleged political cadres in his office.

Dr Miti is saddened that the incident occurred in full view of Mr Kalonde and that the Permanent Secretary allowed the alleged cadres to harass his member of staff.

He says the development is unacceptable especially that it happened to an officer who is charged with the responsibility to manage the affairs of his or her office in line with Government rules.

Dr Miti has also directed Deputy Secretary to Cabinet in charge of Administration Patrick Kangwa to investigate how the purported cadres found their way to the provincial administration and later at the Ministry of Works and Supply.

He says disciplinary action will be taken against all those found wanting over the video that is making rounds on social media.

And Dr Miti has urged supervisors at various levels in Government to protect their members of staff from any forms of harassment as they execute their duties.

He has also reminded civil servants to always be neutral regardless of their religious or political affiliations.
