Veep commissions water projects in Chongwe

Vice President Inonge wina has commissioned new water supply projects in senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukambo II in Chongwe District.

Mrs Wina said that the people of Chongwe have been crying for water for a long time and government has responded to the cries of the people.

She said the Minister of Finance did his best to source for the funds to complete the project in the area.

“Chongwe has suffered for a long time from water scarcity due to the agriculture sector, however we believe that this first initiative government has taken to bring water to Chongwe will be the first in the provision of water because we may need a sustainable development in Chongwe,” she said

Mrs wina commend the people of Chongwe for the patience that they have exhibited for a long time.

Mrs Wina also thanked Chieftaness Nkomeshsya for receiving them in her palace.

And Chieftainess Nkomeshsya said that water has been a challenge in the area and Chongwe Municipal Council could not manage to supply the whole area because Chongwe River is downstream.

“We have tried the whole Chiefdom to find a place where we can sunk the boreholes but we have failed, some farmers could not open their sprinkle’s because of low water and Chalimbana university is also faced with the same challenge,” she said.

Chieftainess Nkomeshsya thanked Mrs Wina and the PF government for massive developments being done in the country and for bringing water in the area.

The Vice President was accompanied by Minister in the Office of the Vice Presiding Olipah Phiri, Water Development Minister Raphael Nakacinda, Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo and area Member of Parliament Japhen Mwakalombe.
