AU allocates Zambia Johnson Covid-19 vaccines

Zambia has been allocated doses of the Johnson and Johnson Vaccines in addition to the COVAX facility.

Health Minister Jonas Chanda said this is according to communication received from the African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team established by the African Union.

Dr Chanda said the local team is this week scheduled to hold a meeting to review the guidelines for the private sector and Non-State Actors who have expressed interest in supporting the vaccine acquisition.

He said engagement of private players will proceed cautiously with approved Organisations being represented.

Dr Chanda  noted that case admissions have remained stagnant with the hospitalized patients observed due to prolonged length of stay in health facilities.

The minister explained that the country continues to see variation in the positivity rate recorded across the country.
