All People’s Congress (APC) party has commended the Catholic Church and the SDA Church for declining to take the offer of receiving public money under the Empowerment program for Churches.
APC President Nasson Msoni said there is no plausible excuse for anyone to receive property believed or suspected to be stolen or is proceed of crime.
Mr Msoni said that the money is better channeled towards the procurement of medicines for hospitals and the payment of salaries in the Councils where workers have gone for months without receiving their salaries.
He said theEmpowerment fund is a self serving project aimed at servicing the needs of an individual but at the expense of the welfare of the wider public.
MrbMsoni said Hospitals have no medicines and don’t have the vital equipment needed that is required to provide the much needed treatment.
