Nkana signs Zimbabwean midfielder Chipunza

By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Super Division Nkana have beefed up their engine room with the signing of Zimbabwean midfielder Tichaona Chipunza from Chicken Inn.

The Kitwe giants announced the capture of Chipunza on their official Facebook Page yesterday.

The arrival of Chipunza brings the number of Zimbabwean players at the club to five.

Goalkeeper Talbert Shumba, right-back Gilory Chimwemwe, centre-backs Jimmy Zingai and skipper Kevin Moyo are some of the Zimbabweans that are on coach Kelvin Kaindu’s roster.

Shumba, Chimwemwe, Zingai and Moyo all trekked to Nkana this season.

Chimwemwe and Zingai were on the books of Buildcon and Power Dynamos respectively before crossing over to champions Nkana.

Chipunza will compete for a starting berth in the team alongside established midfielders in Harrison Chisala, Kenyan Duke Abuya, Misheck Chaila, Stehpen Chulu, and among others.

Chipunza will however not be eligible to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup for Nkana as the deadline for registration of new players has already past.

Nkana are in the same group with Raja Casablanca of Morocco, Egyptians Pyramids and Namungo of Tanzania.

On the other hand Chipunza is eligible to compete in the domestic league for the Wusakile outfit.
