Kalumba upholds Role of private schools

Ministry of General Education Permanent Secretary Technical Services, Jobbicks Kalumba says private schools play a key role in the provision of quality education.

Dr Kalumba said a significant percentage of learners enrolled at early Childhood education, primary and secondary levels are in private schools.

He said this in a speech read on his behalf by General Education Director Standards, Prisca Simukonda, during the launch of the Association of Private Schools in Zambia in Lusaka.

Dr Kalumba noted that private schools collaborate well and effectively with the Ministry of Education on matters such as providing quality education to learners.

He also said the launch of the association has come at the right time when government is determined to ensuring quality education is accessible to all.

Meanwhile, Association interim president Enock Kaputula said the association is ready to work with government in providing quality education.

Mr Kaputula said the aim of the association is to provide a forum of interaction and cooperation for all private schools in the country.
