Expectations high as Chipolopolo tackle Algeria

By Mercy Chewe
Some soccer fans have high expectations as Zambia prepare to face Algeria in a must win 2021 Africa Cup qualifier in Lusaka on Thursday night.

The match will kick off at 21:00 hours at the National Heroes Stadium in the capital city.

Despite predicting a tough encounter against Algeria, the Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASOFA) led by charismatic Pastor Peter Makembo believes Chipolopolo can beat the North Africans.

Makembo said Chipolopolo coach Micho has assembled a strong squad that has stars Patson Daka, Enock Mwepu, Nathan Sinkala, Kabaso Chongo and Cletus Chama among others.

“The game against Algeria is very crucial. It is a deciding game for us,” Makembo said.

Algeria beat Zambia 5-0 in the first round match played in North Africa.

“We know that Zambia has to win with a very good margin, if they had scored five goals against us at their home ground what will stop us from scoring,” he said.

Chipolopolo are bottom of Group H on 3 points, one point behind third placed Botswana who host number two side Zimbabwe also on Thursday.

Algeria have already qualified for the Cameroon Africa Cup.
